You know that frazzled travel feeling? The one where you’re pulling a suitcase with one hand, and carrying a coat and oversized tote bag with the other? The tote is filled with your makeup essentials, travel documents, and (if you’re anything like me) far more tech than necessary. Maybe there are a few tubes of balm dotcom scattered on the bottom, an external charger, and business cards stuffed in the zippered pockets. You’re moving quickly and things are shifting around. You’re never positive that something hasn’t fallen out of the open top. You’re frustrated that you haven’t been able to find a viable alternative. I’m overwhelmed just thinking about it.
It’s taken me nearly a decade, a handful of bags, a few frustrated moments, and a whole lot of research but I’ve finally found the perfect travel bag.
I never considered that the bag I spent most of my 20s looking for would come in backpack form — which might be why it took me this long to find this gem. It’s a simple, sleek bag that holds all of my essentials while appearing fairly delicate. This past weekend, my best friend and I spent every bit of two and a half days running around Chicago in search of the perfect chai latte, hitting spots that have been our list since college, and getting in as many Shake Shack runs allowable. During that time, this bag served as a carry-all for my 13-inch macbook, my DSLR, two external chargers, two wallets, a planner, and all of the other knick-knacks we needed throughout the day. It has a few pockets on the inside, perfect for organizing small tech or extra cords, and it has a side pocket on the back side that’s perfect for your wallet.
All in all, I was super impressed with this bag. Full disclaimer, my friends at Fossil sent over this backpack for me to check out and style. I figured I’d style it for a shoot and use it a few times throughout the summer but after test driving it in Chicago this weekend, this backpack has become my #1 go-to travel bag. I was a little worried that the wear and tear from the weekend would show on the bag (it spent a few hours on the floor of The Vic Saturday night) but it made it through without a scratch. That’s high quality, ladies. Verdict: 100% worth the investment.
