The moment the laid eyes on the first look of Mariss Webb’s F/W14 collection earlier this month, I knew I was in trouble, rather my bank account was in trouble. Cross my heart, I’ve never seen a collection I’ve been so in love with that I’d wear, literally, every piece. Oh hai, leather sleeves – I want you on everything I own. There’s typically a handful of completely irrational & unwearable pieces that come down that runway but this collection was actually wearable.
She’s always been on my radar but this collection really knocked my socks off. Especially aftering hearing her describe the vibe she was going after, I knew I was made to live in this collection. After the show, she described it as “hectic, chaotic, & fast-paced. The collection is about feeling polished, feeling like you have a little edge, but at the same time not being constricted or confined, and not having to think a lot about it.”
Unfortunately, I’ve got champagne taste on a boxed wine budget. I’d kill for any one of these MW pieces but right now it’s just not fiscally possible. Just because I can’t afford the real thing doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be able to get a little taste of the incredible style. With a little help from more inexpensive separates, I’ve created a similar look that I plan to wear right into the ground.
