I’ve been in quite the weekend wardrobe rut lately, exclusively wearing some kind of boyfriend-jean short situation, a fitted white v-neck tee under an oversized cardigan, & chunky heeled sandals. When there’s no real place to go during the day, it’s hard to get motivated to throw on more than what’s been working for me lately. In my defense, dry shampoo & gold baubles have played a part in my weekend fun but that’s really where any kind of effort has stopped. I can’t decide if it’s because I’m feeling uninspired, it’s just soo hot already, or since Monday through Fridays have recently been plotting to kill me, I’ve got nothing left by the time Saturday morning rolls around. Is anyone else feeling this fashion lull?
I also always find it a bit challenging to incorporate color into my wardrobe & when Spring + Summer hit this seems to be an even bigger problem for me. Somtimes instead of stepping out in brighter colors, I’ll choose a white, or off-white version of a piece that I love – this way, I get to sport the summery piece I’m into without adding yet another black garment to my wardrobe. & since technically, white is just a combination of all the colors in the spectrum, I’m following the warm weather fashion rules, right!?
A few weeks ago, The Pink Armoire invited me to peruse their collection & choose a fun, summery look. Their selection was so cute but once again I found myself caught between my comfort zone of blacks + whites & a rack of really brightly colored dresses I knew would spruce up my closet but that I also probably wouldn’t ever wear. I was nearly set on a black pant/white blazer combo when I found this little pleated white dress peeking out behind a hot pink mini. Talk about fun + summery! Best of all, I feel great in this dress – no, it’s not anywhere close to being colorful but it’s also not black & it’s not completely stark white; That’s a crawling-out-of-my-comfort-zone win in my book!
