Apparently, if the word “Girl” appears in the title of a novel, I’ll read it. At least that seemed to be the theme of my 2018/2019 book choices: Gone Girl, The Luckiest Girl Alive, City of Girls, Pretty Girls, All the Missing Girls. All phenomenal, by the way.
With a little less murder but equal drama, I also loved The Last Mrs. Parrish, The Couple Next Door, Firefly Lane and American Royals.
I’ve never been an avid reader and it’s always something I’ve wanted to change so earlier this year, I set a goal of reading one book per month. So far, I’m on track having finished Gone Girl in January and American Royals in February. This month, I’m reading Then She Was Gone.
Over the next few months I’m planning on reading American Dirt, Majesty, Beneath a Scarlet Sky, Becoming, Where the Crawdads Sing, Educated, All The Light We Cannot See, The Alice Network and Bad Blood.
Along the way I’ll also be reading more reflective books like You Are a Badass At Making Money, 1001 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think, Tiny Beautiful Things, Big Magic, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, etc.
Interested in jumping on this bandwagon with me? Let’s do it together! I’m starting a virtual book club that will discuss a new book each month. Learn more about it here.
In the meantime, I would love for you to leave your book suggestions for everyone to benefit from in the comments below!
