Spot #2 is a little less of a hidden gem & more of a huge DC landmark. It’s a place I feel at home & the perfect place for a quintessential DC date night. Check out my favorite spot to unwind after a DC day here.

Back in the day, when The Joffrey Ballet was based in NYC as opposed to it’s current Windy Cindy location, their traveling crew came to DC every other year to perform The Nutcracker at The Kennedy Center. Over two Christmas seasons I spent hours practicing my routine, playing with more makeup than any 5th grader should have access to while waiting backstage, & idolizing the older girls from the right stage wing.
Me, a ballerina? Yes, it’s true. This softball playing, cheesesteak eating, fashion loving, DC native did that whole tutu ballerina thing. & it was a blast. I didn’t know it at the time but it was one of the most bad ass moments of my life & I’m so grateful I remember so many tiny parts of that experience. Being dropped off mid-way through the day & picked up well after bedtime, doing homework with the other mini ballerinas in the great hall, wearing far too much Fire & Ice for one lifetime (the fact that Revlon still makes this is impressive in a sadistic sort of way), discovering secret rooms backstage that we swore no one but us 10 year olds knew about. It was magic. For two extended holiday seasons I was lucky enough to call The Kennedy Center home & so enjoy reliving those memories every time I pass by.
Make sure you swing by tomorrow to check out my third & final favorite spot in Georgetown & another killer Ann Taylor look!

I love your look… especially those shoes and the clutch!!! :) Also, it’s neat to find other DC natives! A lot of the DC area bloggers I love to read aren’t normally from DC, DC but one of the VA/MD suburbs! I don’t think I’ve found someone who is actually native to DC proper, so it’s cool to find your blog :) Can’t wait to see tomorrows look!
