Found Moments of Fun with Cambria Hotels

This is Part Two of my stay at Cambria Hotels & Suite’s DC location! Click here to read the first post in case you missed it.

Last month, I booked a room at a local hotel so I could stay downtown for a few client meetings and explore the city during my down time. Cambria Hotels & Suites is located near some of my favorite spots and provides a 24-hour, newly designed business center with access to individual terminals, and free wifi so the choice was an easy one to make!

Upon check-in, we were greeted with drink tokens that we redeemed more quickly than I’d like to admit and headed up to the roof to enjoy the view before the whirlwind of the long weekend began.

We dropped our bags in the room, unpacked the essentials, snapped a few pictures of the historic view, and got to exploring the Shaw area.

Five years ago, this area had a completely different feel which is one of the reasons why I chose this hotel. I had not spent much time in Shaw and the hotel is located right in the middle of this upcoming area, just a quick walk from the Convention Center. There are some great markets in the area, restaurants with string lights hung above outdoor patios, and local coffee shops around every corner. The area is still under construction, which the website notes on its front page, but I didn’t find it to be an issue at all. Construction took place within the confines of permitted hours and the hotel provided a cozy and secluded vibe in the middle of this bustling part of town.

Since I’d never spent much time in this part of town, I was excited to get out and explore all that the area had to offer. After the first morning of playing tourist in my city, I shot back to the hotel to spend a few hours working on content and prepping for late afternoon meetings with clients. I grabbed a quick bite at Cambria’s Social Circle™ bistro then set up camp in the hotel’s Business Center to take full advantage of the free high-speed wifi and printing services.

Mid way through my time in the business center, the concierge actually stopped by to see if I needed anything which really wowed me. This specific Cambria Hotels & Suites location wasn’t particularly large however, I can only imagine how busy they were over a three day weekend. It was incredibly refreshing to see how the staff went above and beyond to treat each guest like a VIP. The staff was so friendly, that we ended up at dinner with the Valet attendant one night. As a DC life long resident, we had some amazing stories to share with each other!

One of my favorite parts about our stay was the amount of outdoor spaces that were available. From the spacious rooftop to the spacious courtyard with built in fire pits, it was incredibly relaxing to take little time outs in these spaces.

Over the next two mornings, I made sure to take full advantage of their rooftop to enjoy my coffee and to get in a little content! The scenery was picturesque; These rooftop moments were a welcomed calm before the chaos of the day began.

While I didn’t have much time, I also made sure to get in at least 30 minutes of cardio in their Fitness Center each morning before our coffee break. It sits next to their indoor rooftop pool and is enclosed in windows on all sides so you’re able to enjoy the city views while working out.

Each night, I left the curtains open since the view was so unreal. I didn’t want to waste a second of it!

Our rooftop, the final night of our stay!

On our last day, we decided to leave our luggage at the front desk while we spent the afternoon running around the city. This always leaves me a little anxious but the concierge, once again, went above and beyond by showing me exactly where the items would be kept and locking them in an office. Crisis averted. Overall, I was incredibly pleased with my stay. I was worried about the number of guests simply because of the weekend we were in town and how that might make for additional noise but the guests were friendly, the hotel was quiet, and the staff was truly amazing.
