Similarly with the neon challenge, I was a little apprehensive about styling pastels since you all know how keen I am on dressing in color. But I figured it could be a fun way to step out of my comfort zone & prep for Spring so I tried my damndest & whaddaya know? I’ve worn this pastel shift with that white vest more times than I’d care to admit over the last 2 weeks. Moral of the story: Don’t be afraid to venture outside your sartorial  comfort zone.

The first look is my favorite for a girls’ night out or for a patio dinner outdoors since the weather has been stellar in DC recently. The strappy heel & white vest dress up this big pop of color without making an obnoxiously loud statement. It also doesn’t hurt that the dress + vest + heels were all under $100!

The second look is actually one my girl, Shell B, styled for an amazing project she’s working on; Talk about girl power. She dove into the closets of some of DC’s fashion bloggers to help style a ‘problem piece’ they’d always had issues styling. For me, it was these Rebecca Minkoff stunners. I’d worn them once at Fashion Week last Fall but they’ve been collecting dust on my shoe rack ever since. I’d try pairing them with shorts, pants, & dresses but I felt like an elf each time I’d look in the mirror. Thanks to Shell B, I now have a few great looks to wear these flats in! Pairing this pastel dress with a cargo vest & flats gives it a whole different vibe.

How do you wear your favorite pastels & florals in the summer?

I love it! I want to wear it all the time…like…all the time. Including over sweats…

Yes x 1000 to these looks. I love how you toned down the girly print with vests and strong shoe choices. Lookin good girl!

I recently chopped off my hair (#shorthairdontcare) and I was wondering if you would do a styling tutorial; either for your everyday curls or some fun ‘dos.

    Thanks for the daily inspiration!

I’m a blazer girl for life but sometimes it’s just too damn hot to sport an extra layer of sleeves in the DC heat! I’ll definitely be sporting these blazers all summer long!

That dress is beautiful! I have a hard time incorporating colors into my closet but I would totally buy that! It looked especially chic with the white vest over it.

I’m with you on the color situation. I felt more comfortable in it when I paired it with solid colors or it could even be worn as a top with a flared midi skirt. Helloooo color!

Also – this other vested look you’ve got…stunning. Love what a versatile dress this is. Thanks again, for everything. xoxo.

Trade you for those black + gold heels. Searched for them for over an hour today. It was not a proud moment.

I smell a reunion soon :) So wonderful to meet you too! Had a blast with you, lady xx

Can I just have a moment to gush about the hardware in both outfits? The chain necklace + rings dress up the cargo vest perfectly, and the detail on the clutch and the ring are made for each other. It was great getting to know you (and your style) better!
