Date Night at The Kennedy Center with Capital One

Thank you to DC’s hometown bank, Capital One, for sponsoring this post.

My best friend and I are long overdue for a girls’ night out but we’ve been unsuccessful in agreeing upon a date night activity. Relationships, I tell ya. She wants something indoors but exciting. I want something out of the ordinary. She hates bars. I want to get dressed up. Neither of us are looking to get hit on and honestly, we’re looking for a large dose of female empowerment.

We try to plan these lady dates every so often but we’re both interested in kicking things up a notch this month so when Capital One reached out with this potential partnership opportunity, I jumped at the chance. Not to mention, this ball started rolling before the Stanley Cup Finals and I figured it would be all but good luck if I didn’t take advantage of the opportunity – GO CAPS!

Capital One’s solution to our lady date dilemma: RIOT! The a female driven special happening exclusively at The Kennedy Center – which happens to be one of my all-time favorite DC spots. Did you know I danced in The Joffrey Nutcracker at The Kennedy Center when I was in elementary school?

The event is being advertised as, “a celebration of women in comedy [that] will salute our comedy icons while giving today’s stars a national platform to embrace creative risk and emphasize the female perspective in our rapidly evolving culture.” Exciting? Check. Out of the ordinary? Check. Empowering? Check. We’re in.

We’re so looking forward to a night of female stand-up comedians, writers, actresses, sketch performers, artists, and community leaders—sharing the stage in a show of unity and strength at the nation’s premier performing arts center. Through these types of events sponsored by Capital One, the hope is to continue fostering advancement of comedy to spur important conversations and a further understanding of the societal issues that communities across the nation face on a daily basis. Who doesn’t want to be a part of that!? Want to join us? Tickets go on sale publicly on June 21, so be sure to set a reminder to snag them quickly as this is a one night only event! The best part?
