It wasn’t until well into my sophomore year of college that I even contemplated the idea of having something other than a desk job for the rest of my life. & it didn’t hit me until well after I had graduated college that I realized that you honestly could do what you loved & the money would follow. It seems like such a simple concept to grasp but I was raised on the idea that I would have a grown up job & sit behind a desk until retirement. Ladies, you can do whatever your little heart desires. Just make sure you have a plan, it pays the bills, & above all else it makes you happy. Kat made her dream a reality…& her day job.
What was your major in college? I majored in Interior Design at Arizona State University.
How was your blog born? My blog started right after I graduated. I started missing the creative outlet my classes provided so I created With Love From Kat to document all of my ideas and share the things that inspired me. Over the years, my blog has morphed into more of a fashion blog, but I still include decor posts every other week. I worked in fashion PR for a year and a half before quitting my job. I’ve been blogging full time for a little over a year now.
What is your commuting footwear of choice? Jack Rogers in the spring/summer and Stuart Weitzman boots in the winter.
What’s the one item you can’t live without at the office? I always have a yummy smelling candle burning – usually Diptyque Baies.
What time management tip can you give other women that are managaing both a 9-5 job & a blog? Set aside a few hours on the weekend to get the majority of your blog work done and schedule your posts so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed during the week. Use tools like Hootsuite to make life easier.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? It’s hard to think about the next 5 years because this industry is constantly changing! I hope I’m still blogging, married, and maybe even writing a book!
