4 Podcasts I’m Listening to Right Now

As we discussed earlier this year, I get bored easily listening to music. I’m a maximizer and while music is great I’m not learning anything new. I’m in a place where I’m hungry for new information all the time – whether it’s to better myself or my business, learning about different pieces of history that I’m incredibly intrigued by, or diving into the psyche of a murderer – I’m here for it.

I’m adding 4 more titles to the list of podcasts I’m listening to right now, as well as reader suggestions. But at this very moment, these are the 4 on rotation:

The Influencer Girl //

A few weeks ago, I was interviewed in this episode of The Influencer Girl Lifestyle podcast. I’m spilling all the details: How I got into blogging, my thoughts on the business now, why I quit my government job, why I decided to move away from DC, how I started my own business, the importance of authenticity, whether I prefer cooking or takeout and so much more. I highly suggest it although, I’m probably a little biased.

The host, Monica, features a new female entrepreneur every week to discuss the ins and outs of their business and the tips and tricks they have for getting there. It’s become a weekly listen for me.

Up & Vanished //

After Serial, I looked to My Favorite Murder to get my thriller fix but after a handful of episodes I found I was more irritated by the hosts than I was interested hearing how the stories played out. I kept coming back to it, hoping I’d feel differently. Alas, I finally took it off my list. I discovered Up & Vanished via a reader suggestion and from Episode 1 I was intrigued. It’s a typical small town whodunnit, narrated by an outside reporter who has ties to the community. I highly recommend.

Season 2 just came out and I’m saving it for the 15 hours of driving I’ll be doing over the next week. All in the name of mulled cider and stuffing.

Slow Burn //

After watching The Post last weekend (one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, btw), I added this to my list. In the last scene of The Post, Meryl Streep, WaPo owner, comments that she couldn’t possibly make it through another DC scandal. The movie cuts to a Watergate security guard walking through the jimmied doors of the DNC and reports an in-progress burglary.

Season 1 of Slow Burn picks it up here and dives into the Watergate scandal. Intriguing.

I’m late to the game so the second season has already been released. It rips into the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

Forever 35 //

Another reader suggestion that I’ve grown to love. Typically, I’m not a huge fan of listening to the back and forth (see also: My Favorite Murder hosts) but these women are fun, funny, dish about relevant topics, and they’re not 21 which I reallyyy appreciate. It’s a podcast for the thirty-something woman that wants to know how long you can really last on Whole 30, what drugstore mascara lives up to the hype and the serums you should invest in. Bonus: Weekly guests share their mostly beauty-based secrets.

Looking for more? I’m a big fan of these 6 podcasts and listen to this one and this one whenever there’s a new episode. Today, I’m listening to this one about making your new business legal featuring my friend (and contract writer!) Ashlee Hightower of Contracts for Creatives.
