Weekend brand meetings >>> Dinner with the girls
Casual Friday >>> Rooftop happy hour
Taking a look from day to night, or from #desktodrinks, is one of the easiest tricks in the fashion book. There’s rarely a day I don’t have some kind of after-work plan & after putting in an entire work day the last thing I want to do is stand in front of my closet staring blanky at a rack of endless possibility. Hence why I always used to be late to everything. Nerp, that’s not a cute look on anyone.
You can take almost any outfit from day to night in 2 easy steps but the hardest & most important part of this equation is the actual outfit you leave your home in. If you woke up late, tossed your hair in a topknot, threw on mascara, a shift dress & mules , & dashed out the door with a handful of jewelry & your structured tote, there’s nothing I can do to help you. But if you took 2 extra minutes to toss a clutch in that tote & grabbed a bold lip color on your way out the door, then we’ll absolutely be able to remedy the ‘I overslept my alarm & have half a bottle of dry shampoo in my hair’ situation once happy hour rolls around.
Fashion can be hard sometimes, amIright? Especially when you’re trying to make one outfit work throughout multiple settings in one day. Make it easier on yourself by spending a few extra minutes in the morning pairing a smaller bag with the outfit that you’re set on wearing for the day. & as far as lip colors go, keep a whole mess of options in a smaller cosmetics pouch that you can easily transfer from bag to bag. Even if it’s a nude or light pink, a little swipe goes a long way to polish off a look. Shop the tubes that are currently at the bottom of my bag below.
What are your quick go-to tricks for taking your look from 9-5 to after-hours?
