“It’s about the contrast of putting things together in a way you couldn’t imagine.” – Isabel Marant
I’ve been stuck in shopping limbo for the last few weeks – with the old Georgetown H&M clearing out older inventory at insane clearance prices & the new one not having opened its doors just yet. At least once a week, on my way home from work, I’d pop in to snag a new pair of boyfriend jeans or a fitted blazer to perk up a less than sparkly day. But for the past few weeks, it’s just been end of summer merch & men’s v-necks.
But in just a few hours, all that will change. The brand spankin’ new Georgetown H&M is opening its doors at 12pm tomorrow & YOU are invited to shop the 27,000 square feet ’til you drop.
Why, you ask, should you spend your lunch break indulging in the goodness that H&M has to offer? I’ll give you THREE reasons why:
1. The first 300 shoppers in line get an H&M t-shirt and Access to Fashion Pass, valued from $10 to $300.
2. While in line, tweet @districtsparkle & @hmusa with hashtag #DClovesHM to win early access to the store for a style consultation with me while we style your free head-to-toe outfit courtesy of H&M. The first one who tweets while in line will be chosen at 11:15 to come in & get styled!
3. Shop the first ever in-store H&M ‘home’ department & scope out your shopping plan for Thursday’s Isabel Marant x H&M Collection mayhem.
Can’t make it to opening hour? No fear. Shop all your favorites at the new location anytime at 3222 M Street NW & shop the Isabel Marant Collection at H this Thursday, November 14 in stores while supplies last.
Note: Compensation has been provided in the form of product via H&M. Per usual, all opinions are my own. District Sparkle LLC partners only with brands that I love & shop myself.

I don’t quite remember the day that I stumbled upon Leandra Medine’s blog. To be absolutely honest, I don’t remember what she was wearing & I don’t remember what I was wearing but I do remember her dry humor & quick wit that kept me coming back for more. ‘Man Repelling’. It was an interesting concept & while I applauded her courage & drew inspiration from her looks, my world was not [nor has it ever been] crop tops & overalls. Never to work, never after-hours, never on weekends. It just isn’t my jam. But there was still something about her blog that kept me stalking it like a Jehovah’s witness stalks your suburban home. Who knew I’d ever be interested in someone else’s writing. Weird, right? Reading — gross.
One of the reasons I so enjoy writing this blog is for the interaction I’m able to have with my readers. Another is the fact that I publish unfiltered & unedited musings that are straight out mah brain. The less scripted my posts are, the more response I get from you. Which is my favorite part. You can thank the girl crush/animal to my spirit/dry humored role model who gave me the kick in the pants to share only my honest feelings about Uggs & the travesty that is the flare pant here on DS. Speaking of my spirit animal herself, doesn’t this pic just scream, friendship? I think, yes. Thanks to the finest repeller of men, I’m confident in expressing thangs in my own way up here instead of playing it safe & creating a mundane, vanilla atmosphere. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
So, thanks Le-money for blazing this trail I’m so excited to be embarking upon myself, thanks for keeping it cool in a bad ass full midi skirt sporting jeggings underneath, thanks for the
chest bump super cool girl-we-be-homeskillets-fo-lyfe hug last night, & thanks for the continual inspiration to be true to myself. Even if that means divulging that I’m a binge mac & cheese eater. We’ve all got an Everest.
Now it’s your turn to tell me – who inspires YOU?
Instead of sobbing in my closet surrounded by sparkles, champagne, & my best girlfriends, I’ve decided to celebrate ringing in my mid to late twenties with a fashion documentary I’ve been giddy to see with all of YOU! Whether you’re a seasoned fashion guru, you want to learn more about the magical world of fashion, or you need an excuse for a weekday girl’s night out, this is the one event you absolutely cannot miss.
On Wednesday, August 14 @ 6pm, I’ll be hosting a screening of Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s at the Loews Theater in Georgetown.
Just what is this documentary I can’t stop talking about? Catch a sneak peek here or check out the deets for yourself: It’s the most mythic of all American emporiums – and the scene of many an ultimate fashion fantasy. Now audiences get a rarified chance to peek behind the backroom doors and into the reality of the fascinating inner workings and fabulous untold stories from Bergdorf Goodman’s iconic history in Matthew Miele’s Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s. The legend, the parties, the fashion idols, the windows, the women, the buyers and shoppers — and most of all, the quintessentially American dreams of New York’s high-fashion hot-spot – all come to life in an ode to a realm where creativity and commerce reign equally supreme. With a light touch, Miele explores not just the glamour but the passion behind the daily creation of this luxury mecca in a film as dynamic, lush and intimate as the store itself.
Tell me you don’t have goosebumps. Snag your tickets, put on your favorite party attire, & come help me kick off my birthday week with this fashion flick!
5 lucky ticket holders will receive a District Sparkle Birthday Bag with tons of my favorite things inside! Cross your fingers & get your tickets now!
