The past few years, I’ve half-assedly attempted a derby outfit & completely missed Gold Cup due to other engagements that were taking place on that particular Saturday. This year is a different story & a complete monogram-infused, Lilly Pulitzer-esque, fascinator-explosion opportunity. & friends…I’m taking full advantage of it.
To help kick off the races & that glorious mint julip-filled sunny Saturday we’re all looking forward to, I’m hosting a Gold Cup soiree with 52 Thursdays + Ginger Boutique in Bethesda tonight! Take 20% off Ginger favorites like this Tracy Reese stunner I’ve had my eye on for ages. They’ll be champs, giveaways from my favorites Drybar + Bluemercury & obviously cupcakes. Grab your best girls & hop on the red line for a much needed mid-week happy hour jam packed with discounts & goodies.
In the meantime, shop a few of my potential suitors for next Saturday’s festivities. You can never go wrong in Tracy Reese so I’m leaning towards the first 3. Thoughts?
I’ve always been a sale shopper – since I was old enough to buy ‘fashion tops’ at JCPenney, I’ve been shopping sales, nonstop. Usually, this means I’m sifting through racks of less than stellar threads in search of that amazing find that I can humbly brag about on Instagram but more often than not I just end up buying random crap that finds its way to the depths of my closet, never to be seen again. But hey, it was on sale, so totally worth it, right? Eh, not so much.
When I came back from college & noticed all these Neiman Marcus Last Call shops opening up I was intrigued. I assumed it had to be somewhat sale-esque but never gave it more thought than that since who in their right mind can afford Neiman’s? Not me. Big mistake. Huge. Once I finally walked through the automatic doors of the mothership, I knew I’d hit the jackpot. Last Call is now one of those shops like Marshalls + TJMaxx that I always hit before shopping anywhere else. Because, honestly, it’s stupid not to. Those $115 Calvin Klein flats that I’ve been obsessing over? Oh, they’re at Last Call for $58. & this killer jumpsuit for under $70. Yep, this is happening. NBD.
I assume you’ve all experienced the magic that is Neiman Marcus’ Last Call but if you still have yet to venture into the unknown of responsible sale shopping, let’s go on that journey together! Join me at the Last Call in Mosaic District next Thursday, May 1 for a night of blow-your-mind, not your wallet, sales + fun extras.
Since this night-o-fun is a little over a week away, I can’t in my right mind ask you to wait to shop until then. Let’s be honest, Lent is over – it’s a free for all. So shop some of my favorites below on Last Call online to prep for the big event!
Speaking of sales, I’m hosting a fun night of shopping + champagne with my favorite gals from BrandlinkDC & 52Thursdays this Wednesday at Ginger in Bethesda from 6:30-8:30pm. Take the red line out for a night full of giveaways from Drybar + Bluemercury, Ginger discounts, + tons of pre-Gold Cup fun! The first 30 to RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org will receive advance screening passes to 20th Century Fox’s upcoming film THE OTHER WOMAN starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton! HOW FUN! I’ll be there & would LOVE to share a double jumbo popcorn tub with you :)
THE OTHER WOMAN | Thursday, April 24th | 7:00pm | AMC Mazza
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending a delightful little gathering at Eno Wine Bar in Georgetown to celebrate Aroche’s launch. I had been looking for a wine bar in Georgetown that fit my personality for quite some time & was so pleased when I found Eno, a new-to-me gem in my ‘hood. After getting over the initial excitement of this magical castle-like wine-filled fortress, I quickly dove into Aroche’s new yummy flats & was overwhelmed with the monogram goodness that surrounded me.
I was almost positive the prepster part of me was lost after graduating from a parochial high school in Northern Virginia, but these monogrammed emblazoned totes that came fresh from Aroche’s HQ made it all too obvious that the teenage collar-popper in me was still alive & kickin’. These totes lined the tables with each attendees’ monogram printed in an assortment of different color patterns. I’m telling you, the possibilities are endless. I’ve been toting mine just about everywhere since it’s nude + camel, & amazing, & lightweight, & has a zipper closure, & has my monogram on it. What’s not to love?
In between shoving my face with brie & politely chugging sauvignon blanc like the lady that I am, I saw these patent drops of goodness whizzing by. I chatted with owners, Alvaro Roche and Elsa Arcila, about their inspiration for these #desktodrinks essentials & discovered that they had the quintessential DC woman in mind while they were designing the shoe. It has a classic & polished look while getting the job done, being functional & badass. Yep, that’s a DC woman alright.
You’ll see just how versatile this tote is next week but for now, I wanted to show you just how jammed packed it can get. I’m a hoarder so this little tote is a godsend. It’s got secret, leather pockets & rolls up into a smaller bag for convenience but man does this sucker hold a ton! I waited for the right lighting to take these shots & at that same moment, someone was interested in sharing the spotlight…
Hay, mom. I think I’ll sleep right in the middle of what you’re working on. We’re still working on the whole impromptu nap time thing…
Sleeping on the job like a bum. Would ya look at that sweet face? Love of my life right there.
