meet aroche

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending a delightful little gathering at Eno Wine Bar in Georgetown to celebrate Aroche’s launch. I had been looking for a wine bar in Georgetown that fit my personality for quite some time & was so pleased when I found Eno, a new-to-me gem in my ‘hood. After getting over the initial excitement of this magical castle-like wine-filled fortress, I quickly dove into Aroche’s new yummy flats & was overwhelmed with the monogram goodness that surrounded me.

I was almost positive the prepster part of me was lost after graduating from a parochial high school in Northern Virginia, but these monogrammed emblazoned totes that came fresh from Aroche’s HQ made it all too obvious that the teenage collar-popper in me was still alive & kickin’. These totes lined the tables with each attendees’ monogram printed in an assortment of different color patterns. I’m telling you, the possibilities are endless. I’ve been toting mine just about everywhere since it’s nude + camel, & amazing, & lightweight, & has a zipper closure, & has my monogram on it. What’s not to love?

In between shoving my face with brie & politely chugging sauvignon blanc like the lady that I am, I saw these patent drops of goodness whizzing by. I chatted with owners, Alvaro Roche and Elsa Arcila, about their inspiration for these #desktodrinks essentials & discovered that they had the quintessential DC woman in mind while they were designing the shoe. It has a classic & polished look while getting the job done, being functional & badass. Yep, that’s a DC woman alright.

You’ll see just how versatile this tote is next week but for now, I wanted to show you just how jammed packed it can get. I’m a hoarder so this little tote is a godsend. It’s got secret, leather pockets & rolls up into a smaller bag for convenience but man does this sucker hold a ton! I waited for the right lighting to take these shots & at that same moment, someone was interested in sharing the spotlight…

Hay, mom. I think I’ll sleep right in the middle of what you’re working on. We’re still working on the whole impromptu nap time thing…

Sleeping on the job like a bum. Would ya look at that sweet face? Love of my life right there.

April 4, 2014

With wedding season in full swing it’s time to dust off your favorite Spring dresses & load your cutest clutch withessentials to get you through outdoor ceremonies & receptions that last well into the night. Attending the first of many impending nuptials scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, I thought I was both emotionally & psyichally prepared. Until I remembered makeup. While I’ve been a closet beauty junkie since the age of 10, I have absolutely no idea where to start when it comes to actual application. Contouring? Who needs contouring when you can just slap bronzer all over your face.

Thank God for Bluemercury’s Spring Beauty Parties – the first few launch tomorrow all over the DC area. Meet makeup experts, try new hues, & master those tips & tricks you’ve seen in magazines but have no idea how to apply in real life. Head to the Bluemercury location nearest you or choose a party based on the makeup brand they’re featuring that day – detailed information below.

I’ll be at the Georgetown location at 1:30pm tomorrow to meet with Laura Mercier experts in efforts to fool everyone at tomorrow’s wedding with just how good I am at makeup. Come out & join me for champs, snacks, & an afternoon of makeup. Call your local Bluemercury store to schedule an appointment now:

“It’s about the contrast of putting things together in a way you couldn’t imagine.” – Isabel Marant

I’ve been stuck in shopping limbo for the last few weeks – with the old Georgetown H&M clearing out older inventory at insane clearance prices & the new one not having opened its doors just yet. At least once a week, on my way home from work, I’d pop in to snag a new pair of boyfriend jeans or a fitted blazer to perk up a less than sparkly day. But for the past few weeks, it’s just been end of summer merch & men’s v-necks.

But in just a few hours, all that will change. The brand spankin’ new Georgetown H&M is opening its doors at 12pm tomorrow & YOU are invited to shop the 27,000 square feet ’til you drop.

Why, you ask, should you spend your lunch break indulging in the goodness that H&M has to offer? I’ll give you THREE reasons why:

1. The first 300 shoppers in line get an H&M t-shirt and Access to Fashion Pass, valued from $10 to $300.

2. While in line, tweet @districtsparkle & @hmusa with hashtag #DClovesHM to win early access to the store for a style consultation with me while we style your free head-to-toe outfit courtesy of H&M. The first one who tweets while in line will be chosen at 11:15 to come in & get styled!

3. Shop the first ever in-store H&M ‘home’ department & scope out your shopping plan for Thursday’s Isabel Marant x H&M Collection mayhem.

Can’t make it to opening hour? No fear. Shop all your favorites at the new location anytime at 3222 M Street NW & shop the Isabel Marant Collection at H this Thursday, November 14 in stores while supplies last.

Swoon city.
